ITD has an opening on its GIS team that supports our Agency’s GIS users, applications, and workflows. This position will fulfill a primary customer service role within the Agency, performing web application, mobile application, desktop, and other GIS support duties as needed. The ITD – GIS team supports around 1,200 DNR employees with their GIS needs. This position is instrumental in serving the needs of the Agency’s GIS priorities and helping our employees serve the needs of the public. This GIS position supports all of our agency’s divisions, regions, and programs, building applications and relationships within our GIS community. Responsibilities:- Designs, develops, tests, implements, maintains, and supports mission-critical business functions and custom geospatial and mobile applications for the agency.
- Provides resolution to highly complex customer complaints and problems relating to all aspects of GIS, programming, and system issues.
- Provides guidance, consultation, and training to other developers, team members, or customers on software development disciplines and methodologies that comply with the agency's software standards.
- Be a primary resource within the ITD – GIS team to support the agency's goals and DNR GIS needs.
Required Qualifications: - A bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, geography, GIS, or other closely related field AND 5 years of relevant professional IT experience;
OR A combination of education and/or experience equivalent. - Experience designing, programming, and deploying Geographic Information Systems applications.
- Experience building custom applications with ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, Geo-processing, ArcSDE, JavaScript, Python, SQL, and Standard Desktop Software.
- Experience troubleshooting technical issues with service responsiveness, accessibility, functionality, known bugs, and providing support on GIS application, system, ESRI software, and supporting tools including products such as products as Windows Event Viewer, Charles, Fiddler, or other related products.
- Experience in IT solutions architecture, application designing, building, and maintaining complex web-based applications using modern Python, JavaScript, .NET, HTML, and CSS tools and techniques, including version control, automated testing, and continuous integration.

Special Requirements and Conditions of Employment:- Office Environment. This position’s duty station is the Natural Resources Building located in Olympia, WA. This position is eligible for Telework/Hybrid options with prior approval from their direct supervisor.
- Occasional travel to DNR regional offices for trainings and technical assistance.
Desired Qualifications:- Competency with scheduling batch software.
- Knowledge of version control software such as SVN and/or GIT.
