The Office of Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester (D-DE) seeks a State Press Secretary for her Wilmington, DE office. The State Press Secretary serves as the primary liaison between the Senator’s office and the local media and works closely with the Delaware team to engage stakeholders and community organizations. The position supports the Senator’s communications strategy within the state, ensures consistent messaging, and strengthens the Senator’s presence through media relations, digital content creation, and community engagement. The role requires an in-depth understanding of Delaware's media landscape and the ability to manage press operations in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment. The position will also be heavily involved in event planning, ensuring a robust communication lens is part of event building and stakeholder engagement throughout Delaware. The State Press Secretary will have a background working with digital content creation and be a creative collaborator who proactively spots digital opportunities to highlight the Senator’s work throughout the state. This is not an entry-level position. Competitive candidates will have 3-5 years of communications experience and some managerial experience. The State Press Secretary will report to the Communications Director and the State Director. They will work closely with the Press Assistant in the Wilmington office and the rest of the communications team in Washington, D.C. Strong writing and editing skills are a must.
